Hoisting himself onto the solid ground, and out of the marsh below, was difficult, as his back burned after work. He kneeled at the edge, panting, taking a moment to rest before rising to his feet. His legs, raw from trudging with filth, pained him as he stumbled towards a small hut in the distance. He smiled, despite his hurt, at the thought of what lay before him. The setting, I suppose, is in an alternate Earth -- a different geography and size, for the sake of not looking like a bigot. A marvelous array of luminescent hues flitted across the sky, banded together by tendons unseen, piercing the clouds and connecting with the ground. Ropes
and chains connected to the centre of the uncanny beam, miles long, and retracted back into the clouds, bending the structure into a bow shape. A bang, like
that of an earthquake, reverberated in the soil, and the mammoth project as set in place. The ropes disconnected, pulling into the sky, and leaving behind a
rainbow.
